Congratulations to Shelby for successfully defending her master's thesis! Shelby conducted a field experiment with honey bees and found that supplemental nutrition did not impact the gut microbiome. However, she did find that the gut microbiome at the beginning of the experiment correlated with hive survival over winter, suggesting presence/abundance of certain bacteria may have a long-term impact on surviving stressors like overwintering. Way to go, Shelby!
